361 Energy ArtsArts based engagement on sustainability in schools
361 Energy have decided to innovate a different arts- based engagement process to find a way to creatively explore important issues around sustainability within the local community. Through using both art and science in an educational setting we aim to develop a pilot phase of an ongoing project that will empower young people to explore their own relationship with sustainability and energy use as consumers that will lead to behaviour change and “ambassadorship” in the community. We believe that at the intersection of arts and science is an opportunity to creatively engage people in the dialogue on their own terms. The pilot phase is currently in development and has been funded by the E.ON community fund. Our aim is to achieve not only educational impact and citizenship but also to pilot a project that can bring added value through being made available to be replicated by other groups. The pilot phase will run until the end of June 2015.
361 Energy has collaborated with local schools since our launch at Ilfracombe C of E Junior School in June 2012. This has included providing energy audits and advice and organising renewable energy tours.
